On the second day of the road trip we visited Boston, MA. We arrived there at about noon and parked the car in a garage towards the center of the town. We walked around and then found the freedom trail. The freedom trail takes you around the city visiting all the key historical sites in the city. Between all the different buildings and the sights that Boston had I was a great day. I took tons of pictures and they turned out great.

After walking around for about 5 hours we decided to stop at Cheers Boston for some dinner and a drink. We got to sit at the original set bar from the show Cheers! I ordered their Norm Burger and was told that if I finished it my name would be on their website. The burger was crazy huge. There were two 3/4lb meat patties 3 onion rings and tons of other toppings along with 3 pieces of bread. It was hard but I was able to finish it. I also had a “Magic Hat #9″ beer. It was a light beer that was smooth with a sweet aftertaste.

After we left Boston we then headed to Salem, MA to see the site of the Salem Witch trials. Unfortunately most of the sights and museums were closed but we found a place to park real quick and walked around the graveyard where the witches are buried. It was cool but would have been better during the day.

We left Salem and met up with Will’s Uncle for some candle-pin bowling. It was alright but I couldn’t seem to get the technique down.

We walked around the city and saw the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Time Square, and Wall Street. We also went to the NBC building and got some souvenirs. We got some Pizza from a nice little pizza place for lunch and we checked out the Soho Apple store.

Overall New York was alright and Time Square was pretty lit up. But I really prefer Chicago over New York. Why? It’s less crowded and cleaner. New York is also much more expensive. I am glad that I went just to say that I did but I would probably not go back any time soon.

We drove until 8:30 AM (CST) clearing just over 600 miles. We made a few stops for more gas and bathroom breaks along the way and to switch off myself and Will for driving. Our first stop is in Scranton, PA. We rented a hotel room for a few hours to rest up and to shower. After that we will be off to New York!

We will be making a stop either on the way out or on the way back to meet KeithVibe (Keith) and on Saturday I will be having lunch with HSkater26 (Patrick). This will be a really cool trip. I am soo excited! I also ordered a AVS Bug deflector for the Vibe to avoid getting more stone chips in my hood. I am not a big fan of how they look but I would rather have that get dented up instead of my hood.

My friend Will and I are going to be going to the Digital Overload LAN Party/Convention in Providence, RI in March. We will be driving out there in one day. Seeing as I have not traveled very much we are turning this trip to a LAN party into a 5 day road trip. We will start off on Wednesday night and drive to New York, NY. We will spend Thursday in NY and then drive to Boston, MA and spend Friday in Boston. The convention officially starts on Friday but there is really not much going on in ways of tournaments and/or gaming so we are going to the convention in Providence, RI for Saturday to Sunday and then making the drive back home hopefully landing back home sometime Monday.

I have made a road trip plan on the AAA website and estimated that taking my Pontiac Vibe will cost us about $0.11 per mile for gas. If we were to take my Chrysler Voyager will bring the price per mile for gas up to $0.17 a mile. We will most likely take the Vibe due to its creature comforts and the fact that it’s a more reliable and newer vehicle. The van is a 2000 while the Vibe is a 2005 and is very well kept.

Either way I plan on bringing my Laptop and my Nikon D50. I am super excited and it’s less than a month away! Woohoo!!!
