PayPal has updated its “acceptable use policy” to include “misinformation” and other general wrong-think that is punishable by $2500 PER “offense”. They are trying to backpedal but this $2500 charge is still on their website as of writing this post. I hated using PayPal before this and now this is it. I’ve closed my personal account and I am working on dumping them for my business as well (if people are not using it anymore there is no use keeping it).
Their policy still has the wording “the promotion of hate” which is overly broad and has no real definition. With these woke companies they could say that posting something in opposition of scam groups like BLM could be “hate” and then ding you for $2500. In my opinion, its not worth the risk. They are not the only players in town for payments. These companies need to shut up and provide services instead of pushing their woke ideologies onto their customers. I keep my politics off my company and other companies should do the same. In general, if you are not a political company you should keep ALL politics off your company presence online.
Consumers are unhappy with this and are canceling their accounts at a record rate. This is even more validated because they are trying to bribe people with a $15 credit to not close the account. Sorry, but my freedom cannot be bought especially with a $15 credit.
